Chemistry is a powerful thing.
That's such an obvious statement, it doesn't seem worth articulating.
But then again... sometimes it takes you by surprise.
And what's noteworthy is not necessarily the "first" kiss.
What's noteworthy is that despite the best intentions of self control, when he's close enough to touch and smell, NOT kissing him is simply not an option.
